About Prayer Time Zones

What are Prayer Time Zones?

Prayer time zones are geographic areas that use the same prayer times. JAKIM has divided Malaysia into 67 zones to ensure accuracy of prayer times at every location.

How are Zones Determined?

Zones are determined based on latitude and longitude coordinates. Locations that are close and have the same coordinates are usually grouped in the same zone.

Why Do Prayer Times Differ?

Prayer times differ by location because sunrise and sunset occur at different times in different locations. Locations in the east will see the sun rise earlier than locations in the west.
